Salina celebrates the fifth annual Kansas Mobility Week

Salina, KS — From November 2-8, 2025, Salina is joining communities across Kansas to celebrate the fifth annual Kansas Mobility Week, a statewide effort to promote accessible, safe, and sustainable transportation options.

Local residents are invited to participate in a variety of activities, including:

  • Mobility on the Move
    Thu, Nov 6, 2025 | 8:45am

    An easy ride on CityGo for one round to experience the bus system. Participants will have the chance to learn how the bus system works, see the route firsthand, and discover how accessible and convenient public transportation can be. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited to the first 10 participants. Advance registration is required. Click here or call 785.826.1583.
  • Transportation 101

  • Santa Fe Stroll
    Fri, Nov 7, 2025, 12:00pm
    A third annual walking event with historical learning. Community members are encouraged to meet at the Smoky Hill Museum front steps at 211 W. Iron at noon on November 7th for a Santa Fe Stroll. The group will be led on a short walk through downtown Salina that will focus on community history. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and to bring along friends, family, and co-workers. The event is hosted by Michelle Coats, Mobility Manager for North Central Kansas, and Susan Hawksworth, Director of the Smoky Hill Museum.

Residents can also enjoy:

  • Free rides on OCCK Transportation on Election Day
  • Free rides all week on KANcycle
  • A statewide photo challenge to celebrate multimodal transportation options

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly will officially recognize the week with a proclamation, underscoring the importance of connecting Kansans to jobs, healthcare, education, and recreation through accessible transportation.

“Kansas Mobility Week is about more than just buses and bikes—it’s about connecting communities, promoting health, and improving quality of life for all residents,” said Michelle Coats, Mobility Manager for North Central Kansas. “We invite everyone to get involved, try new ways to move, and celebrate the options available right here in our community.”
