The Period Project
The Period Project is an initiative led by Altrusa International of Salina, KS, in an effort to end period poverty. Research estimates that 1 in 4 US students struggle to afford the necessary period supplies.
Since 1962, the Altrusa International Foundation has demonstrated a strong and enduring commitment to serve communities both here in the United States and abroad. They advance this commitment by supporting local Altrusans in their community efforts to provide for the care and enrichment of those most in need.
Altrusa International of Salina, KS, was formed in 1944 as an organizaton for volunteers in the Salina, KS area. They have continued to perform services for organizations in Salina and surrouding areas for the past 82 years.
Our Why
Flo Bags are free and contain a month’s supply of tampons and pads. Because access to period supplies should NEVER be a barrier!
Flo Bags are available in three Salina area locations the Salina Public Library, Salina Family Healthcare Center, and at the Saline County Health Department.
Period poverty is the inability to afford or the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products. No student should have to miss school because they are unable to afford the necessary period supplies.
Help Altrusa International of Salina support the young women in our community! Your donation will be used to purchase period supplies for students in Salina and beyond.
