In 2020 the Live Well Saline County Coalition received a four-year Pathways to a Healthy Kansas grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. Tammy Walker Cancer Center, an affiliate clinic of the Salina Regional Health Center, served as the fiscal agent for the grant. The coalition allocated $245,288 of the $300,000 in implementation funds towards initiatives aimed at increasing access to and safety at the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank. The Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank received a grant for $45,288 for development of a site plan and solar lighting and an additional grant for $100,000 to add twelve parking spots and bike racks. The City of Salina received $100,000 towards a sidewalk that connects the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank to the downtown business corridor including two OCCK bus stops.
Join us on Friday, January 3rd from 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m. to learn more about these projects and get a tour that will highlight the solar lighting and new expanded parking. We will have some fun snacks and light refreshments. For those that are interested we will take a walk on the new sidewalk so bring your walking shoes!
